Dinosaur Jr. - Out There

Many criticize Alternative Rock lack the crazy guitar solos that other rock genres have to offer. Well, they just have not met Dinosaur Jr (which is also one cool band name). This band oozes drone singing like many 90s/late 80s alternative rock or post punk bands employ while cranking out solos that could bring flashbacks of The Jimi Hendrix Experience. However, the vocals screams "Seattle based Kurt Cobain fan" and instantly remind you that this is not a rehash of old classic rock. This track alone, boast a crazy guitar intro that Cobain himself couldn't put out and a dirty guitar tone that paint pictures of shoegazing bands and long haired, stoned kids who thinks they're depressed instead of bandanna Hendrix. If Robert Smith was a Hendrix fan, he would pull something this skillful and soothing/sad. Go do yourself a favour and give this band the recognition it never got.

Kvelertak - "Kvelertak"

With catchy guitar leads that could easily come from a harder than usual glam rock song, and Black Metal influences on vocals, this is a marriage could only be made in the modern days of rock. This Norwegian Black n' Roll band with a touch of punk is probably one of the most creative outputs of recent rock history. Singing in Norwegian, didn't stop them from gaining traction in various scenes, be it hardcore, rock n' roll or even black metal but in fact made them shine. Go check out their self titled album and their recently released Meir. Expect some good old melodic hard rock solos, black metal tremolos with a hardcore punk attitude.
