Michael Monroe - Ballad Of The Lower East Side
Some bands just grow old and rise out from for the dead with a comeback album. Most of them suck even as money grabbers *ehem*St Anger*ehem* or just barely catches their shadow *ehem*Death Magnetic*ehem*. Michael Monroe storms the room with his guitars and teaches everyone a lesson. The only other people I've seen doing stuff this good are Lemmy from Motorhead and Dio. Then again, they are demigods. Monroe's vocals seems to get better as he ages and barks while he sings with his twist and turns. The guitars are catchy without sounding too glammy for his own good. Finally, the content of this track, just reminds me that if I were to write a song, write about something I know. Monroe just writes about his days in his sucky studio apartment in New York. Simple but paints a picture of rats and cockroaches but with good old rock and roll. Some freshmen tries to write about the Norse Mythology but sounds as force as the Chinese government trying to come to terms with President Obama.
If only more old bands try to put in effort like this guy, then probably people will shut the fuck up and not say rock is dead.
